While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg confirmed that the finale sets up season eight for one of the "one of the biggest reinventions ever done". The eighth season of the first Walking Dead spin-off will be split into two six-episode blocks, with the first block premiering May 14th at 9 p.m. Morgan and (an apparently alive) Madison are driven towards a large boat at sea in the final moments, implying that the PADRE base is possibly nearby. The season seven finale ended with Morgan's raft landing in Louisiana, where a seafood sign confirmed that PADRE does exist – though their exact location is unknown.
